Welcome to canning cucumbers with us!
Here is a list of supplies you will need:
- Water Bath canner
- Large stock pot
- Oven Mits
- Glass jars with new lids and rings
- Heat source
- Measuring Cup
- Ladle
- Pickling Salt
- Vinegar (5%)
- Dill & Garlic
- Cucumbers
- possibly: funnel, jar lifter and lid
- magnet
It is very important when canning anything that you have the correct jar and lids. Once you know you have the right jar, it is essential that your jars are properly cleaned. Here are your options: Bake your jars at 220F for 20min
Pickling Ingredients
- Vinegar
- Pickling Salt
- Water
- Cucumbers- washed
Making Brine
13 c water
5 c vinegar 5%
1 c pickling salt
Packing Jars for Pickles
- make sure to cool your cucumbers so they don’t cook in the water bath canner
- We pack #1s and #2 cucumber sizes
- Don’t forget to sanitize your jars!
Canning in the Waterbath
Bring water to a rolling boil
Set pickles in canner
leave in for 10 minutes
